Description:
David Johansen, punk pioneer, lead singer & last surviving member of the New York Dolls, died March 1 at 75. In 1971, Johansen joined the Dolls who were cast as glam rock due to their flamboyant style & hair. After the Dolls broke up in 1976, Johansen went on to have a solo career. In 2023 Johansen found new fans because of a Showtime documentary on the filming of Johansen’s final performances in New York City right before the pandemic lockdown.
