William Calley Jr., who without provocation, led U.S. soldiers to kill hundreds of Vietnamese civilians – mostly women, children & elderly men – has died at 80. The 1968 My Lai massacre marked a turning point in the Vietnam War & is known as the most notorious war crime in modern American military history. Calley was convicted for 22 murders & sentenced to life in prison but only served house arrest for 3 1/2 years, after Pres. Nixon intervened.
