Description:
One of the last living Navajo code talkers, John Kinsel Sr, who helped the US and its allies win WWII, died Oct 19 at age 107. A marine, Kinsel served during the battle of Iwo Jima, & played a vital role in the secret code’s development. Kinsel & other Navajo nation members used their native Dine language to create the code for the US military to communicate securely. It was never broken by the enemy. August 14 is Navajo Code Talkers Day.
