Description:
Alan Greenspan, former chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve who helped shape American economic policy for nearly 2 decades, died June 22 at age 100. During his leadership, the U.S. experienced one of the longest periods of economic expansion in its history. Known as the “Maestro” and “Oracle,” Greenspan later faced criticism over policies many linked to the 2008 financial crisis. He is survived his wife, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
