D’Angelo, the singer, songwriter and producer who helped define the neo-soul movement, died Oct 14, at age 51. D’Angelo’s albums Brown Sugar and Voodoo fused 1970s soul with hip-hop rhythms, earning critical acclaim and two Grammys for Voodoo. With hits like Lady and Untitled (How Does It Feel), he became a key voice in modern R&B. D’Angelo is survived by his two children.
