Description:
Annie Dillard, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose Pilgrim at Tinker Creek transformed close observation of the natural world into a meditation on life, death and creation, died Sept 15 at 81. Published when Dillard was 28, the book became a modern classic and established Dillard as one of America’s most distinctive writers. She also wrote Holy the Firm and Teaching a Stone to Talk. Dillard is survived by her husband and daughter.
