Description:
David Hockney, the influential English painter, printmaker, photographer and digital artist, died June 11 at age 88. Born in Yorkshire and long associated with Los Angeles, he helped return figurative art to prominence with his distinctive use of color and light. Openly gay, Hockney broke barriers with unapologetic depictions of LGBTQ life and remained one of Britain’s most celebrated artists for more than six decades.
