He is known for fighting for the rights of African-Americans and challenging the way white America treated black people in the '50s and '60s. Malcolm X was a devout member of the Nation of Islam until he took a pilgrimage to Mecca where he realized that all people are equal and dropped his idea of keeping the races segregated.
