Description:
Aldrich Ames, the former CIA officer who became one of the most damaging spies in U.S. history by selling secrets to the Soviet Union and Russia, has died Jan. 5 in prison at age 84. Arrested in 1994, Ames admitted to betraying Western intelligence assets, actions that led to the exposure and execution of multiple sources. He was serving a life sentence at a federal prison in Maryland.
