On February 26, 2012, an African-American unarmed teenager Travyon Martin was shot by a neighborhood officer George Zimmerman. Trayvon Martin was only 17 years old and and went to a local high school in Miami. After his death, many people protested and made a petition to prosecute Zimmerman. This shooting also brought the topic of police brutality and police targeting young black males back in the news and the general public.
