Description:
Kelvin Kiptum, the 24 year-old Kenyan-born long distance and marathon world record runner was killed in a car accident in Kaptagat, Kenya. In 2023, Kiptum won the London Marathon and in October set the world record in Chicago, shattering the previous record by 34 seconds. Police reported Kiptum lost control of his vehicle before hitting a tree. He’s the only person in history to run the marathon under 2 hours, 1 minute in a record-eligible race.
