Description:
Philadelphia born dancer & choreographer Judith Jamison, died Nov 9 at age 81. Jamison made her premiere with Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in 1965 at Chicago's Harper Theater Dance Festival. She danced alongside many including ballet legend Mikhail Baryshnikov in Pas de Duke, choreographed by Alvin Ailey in 1976. Upon Ailey's death in 1989, she became the theater’s artistic director until 2011, when she became artistic director emerita.
