Colonel Edward Thomas Ryan, veteran who served in Vietnam, and worked as a fireman in his hometown of Rennselaer, NY, died on June1, 2024 at age 85. Ryan came out as gay in his Albany Times-Union obituary. Ryan wrote before his death, that he was gay all is life and that he was in a love and caring relationship with Paul Cavagnaro. “He was the love of my life.” Ryan said he did not come out sooner because he “was afraid of being ostracized.”
