Brenda Fricker, the acclaimed Irish actress who won the Academy Award for My Left Foot, died July 16 at age 81. The first Irish actress to win an Oscar, she built a career spanning six decades in film and television, with memorable roles in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Angels in the Outfield, Coronation Street, and Casualty. Fricker’s warmth and authenticity made her one of Ireland’s most respected performers.
