Description:
Ruth Buzzi, comedian/actor who's spinster character brought her fame in the late 1960s, died May 1 at age 88. Buzzi's Gladys was among the memorable characters on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, with sagging pantyhose, drab clothes, a hairnet, and her handbag which she would "fend off" real & imagined male advances. Buzzi also performed in theatre, film and had countless appearances on TV shows. Buzzi was a supporter of numerous children's charities.
