Description:
Cissy Houston, mother of the late superstar Whitney Houston & 2-time Grammy-winning soul and gospel artist, died Oct 7 while in hospice care at 91. Houston began singing back-up for Otis Redding, Lou Rawls & The Drifters. Later, Houston became an in-demand session singer, recording over 600 songs in multiple genres, & can be heard on tracks alongside Chaka Khan, Jimi Hendrix, Beyoncé, Paul Simon, & daughter Whitney.
