Description:
Dame Joan Plowright, the British actress whose career spanned over six decades, and known for her central role in the overhaul of British theatre at the Royal Court in the 1950s, died Jan. 16 at 95. Plowright was married to Laurence Olivier from 1961 until his death in 1989. She received 2 Golden Globes, 1 Tony Award & noms for an Oscar, 2 BAFTAs & an Emmy. Plowright was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004.
