Sphen the gentoo penguin & one half of a world-famous same-sex couple, has died in Australia. He was 11. As equality icons, Sphen and his partner Magic shot to stardom in 2018 when they fell in love at the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, later adopting & raising two chicks. After Magic and the gentoo colony were taken to see Sphen, the aquarium filled with unique and “beautiful” singing as the penguins mourned.
