Sam Butcher, artist who created ‘Precious Moments,’ died on May 20, 2024. He was 85. Butcher’s art of the children with tear-shaped eyes inspired the Precious Moments porcelain figurines. At its peak, Butcher’s line of Precious Moments ranked among the most popular collectibles in the United States and retail sales exceeded $500 million in the 1990s, according to reports.
