Description:
Dolores Huerta, the labor leader and activist who co-founded the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez, died Oct 28 at 96. Huerta, who coined "sí se puede," helped lead strikes and boycotts that unionized California grape growers in the 1960s /’70s, winning better wages and protections for farmworkers. As the union’s longtime vice president, Huerta fought for safer working conditions, maternity protections and the rights of migrant laborers.
