Description:
John Barth, author of The Sot-Weed Factor and The Floating Opera, has died aged 93. Barth was part of a wave of writers who challenged standards of language and plot, launching countless debates over the art of fiction. Barth advocated for postmodernism to literature, saying old forms were used up and new approaches were needed.Barth was an emeritus professor of English and creative writing at Johns Hopkins University.
