Description:
Alice Green, PhD, an icon for civil rights in New York State, died August 20, at age 84. Green began her career as an educator, then social worker. Green earned a doctorate in criminal justice. In 1986 she was appointed by Gov. Mario Cuomo as deputy commissioner of the Division of Probation & Correctional Alternatives. She founded & was Exec Director of the Center for Law & Justice. Green wrote articles and books on racism & criminal justice.
