Description:
Brazilian musician Sérgio Mendes, who brought bossa nova to an international audience in the 1960s with his band Brasil ’66, died on September 6, at age 83. Mendes began his career in the late 1950s and would continue for 7 decades. In 1968, Mendes became well-known from performing, The Look of Love at the Oscars. Mendes won a Grammy for best world album for Brasileiro in 1992. His most recent album, In the Key of Joy, was released in 2020.
