Clarence B. Jones, the lawyer, speechwriter and adviser to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and who helped draft portions of the “I Have a Dream” speech, died May 22 at age 95. A trusted confidant during the civil rights movement, Jones also assisted King with major speeches, legal matters, and strategy. He later became a businessman, educator, and advocate for preserving the history of the movement.
