Description:
Tomiko Itooka, a Japanese woman awarded the Guinness World Record status last year of world’s oldest living person, died Dec. 29 at 116. Born 6 years before WWI, Itooka enjoyed mountain climbing & twice climbed Japan’s 10,062ft Mount Ontake. When she was told last year she was at the top of the world supercentenarian rankings, she replied: “Thank you.” Itooka is survived by a son, daughter & 5 grandchildren.
