Description:
George E. Johnson, the entrepreneur who co-founded Johnson Products and built a Black-owned business empire with brands like Ultra Sheen and Afro Sheen, died July 6 at age 99. Rising from a sharecropper’s cabin to become one of America’s wealthiest Black businessmen, Johnson helped create the first Black-owned company listed on a major U.S. stock exchange. Johnson is survived by his wife, Madeline Murphy Rabb.
