French artist and author, Laurent de Brunhoff, who popularized Babar the elephant over decades, died Friday, March 22, 2024. He was 98. The adventurous character was created by his parents, and at age 20, de Brunhoff carried on the Babar legacy, staying faithful to their creation. De Brunhoff created dozes of adventures for Babar spanning the 1930s to the late 2010s, such as learning yoga, speaking German, and visiting the U.S.
