Roberto “Loli” Linguanotto, the pastry chef widely regarded as the inventor of tiramisu in the 1970s, died on July 28. He was 81. Linguanotto was a pastry chef at the renowned restaurant Le Beccherie in Treviso, Italy, when he invented tiramisu, which literally means, “pick me up.” Since Tiramisu has become the most famous desserts on menus worldwide.
