Description:
Sonny Rollins, the Harlem-born jazz saxophonist regarded as one of the most influential musicians in jazz history, died May 25 at age 95. Across seven decades, he recorded more than 60 albums and performed with other jazz legends including Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk. Known for his improvisational brilliance and commanding tone, Rollins received honors including the National Medal of Arts and Kennedy Center Honors.
