Description:
John Amos, the Emmy nominated actor and New Jersey native best known for his groundbreaking roles in Coming to America, TV’s Good Times and Roots, died on August 21. He was 84. Amos received an Emmy nomination for his role as the adult Kunta Kinte in the landmark 1977 miniseries, Roots. In Good Times, Amos played the father in a loving two-parent Black family trying to make ends meet in Chicago.
