Description:
Richard Theodore Otcasek (03/23/1944–09/15/2019), known as Ric Ocasek, was an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer, best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the rock band the Cars. The Cars topped the charts in the late 1970s and 80s, with 13 top-40 singles. The band’s sound helped kick off the new wave movement, and saw them and Ocasek inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
